16 November 17:30   Decolonizing Europe Series: Decolonisation and the European Project
Peo Hansen, Stefan Jonsson, Charlotte Riley, IHR Pollard Seminar Room, N301, Third Floor, IHR. Venue: Pollard Room N301, 3rd floor, IHR, North block, Senate House

The first seminar in our Decolonizing Europe series opens with a session on Decolonization and the European Project. In conversation will be Charlotte Riley (Lecturer in Twentieth Century British History at the University of Southampton), Peo Hansen (Professor in the Department of Social and Welfare Studies at Linköping University), and Stefan Jonsson (Professor in the Department of Social and Welfare Studies at Linköping University).

Charlotte Riley is currently writing a book on the Labour Party’s aid and development policies, situating these within Labour’s wider attitudes to foreign policy and the development of its ideas about poverty, inequality and Britain’s role in the wider role over this period. Peo Hansen and Stefan Jonsson are the authors of Eurafrica: The Untold History of European Integration and Colonialism (Bloomsbury, 2014), which tells the story of the concept of ‘Eurafrica’—a political project that saw Europe’s future survival – its continued role in history – as completely bound up with Europe’s successful merger with Africa.
